OPERATION DRAGOON

Operation Dragoon was codename for the highly successful Allied invasion of Southern France during WWII. launched on August 15, 1944, the French Army liberated Toulon and Marseille while the Allied soldiers advanced National Route 7, and with the help of the French Resistance, they liberated the Rhone Valley. This four week campaign, combined with D-Day, was instrumental in ending WWII.

The photo on our label is from the US Army Center of Military History and shows a young French girl giving a bottle of wine to an American soldier.

Pierre Gaillard has been making wine in Cote Rotie, St-Joseph, Cornas, Condrieu, Crozes-Hermitages and Saint-Peray for decades. Pierre is highly regarded throughout the Rhone Valley as an incredible winemaker and human being.

Kimberly, Anna and Mario Monticelli work with Pierre Gaillard to produce a great Grenache based quality and value-driven Cotes du Rhone. The balance of the blend is made up of Syrah.

The Pierre Gaillard Winery is located in the heights of Malleval, just south of Condrieu along the Rhone River. The Gaillard winery and environs are simply magical.
